Following a tooth breaking on holiday, I reluctantly rang Clowne Dental Practice, who had changed hands since I had last been there several years ago.
I have a huge fear of dentists, after previous experiences, but needed something doing with the tooth.
The receptionist was so kind, reassuring me & selecting Joanne who specialises in nervous patients, to look after me, and even talking me through Amazon to find an emergency filling kit until my appointment.
On my first visit, I met Joanne who was so lovely, taking time to listen to my experiences, then carefully taking x-rays & doing a quick examination, explaining exactly what she was about to do at every step & ensuring I was ready.
Having seen the tooth, she then rebooked me to get it sorted, giving me the choice of a filling or extraction, and even telling me I didn’t have to make my mind up until my next visit - it was my choice.
Yesterday, I went back, and again discussed it with her, and we agreed that an extraction would be the best course of action.
Again, entirely at my pace, listening to me, and explaining everything at every stage, she extracted the tooth. I even had my favourite music playing on the tv throughout.
Afterwards, she recommended their hygienist and took time to introduce me to her in advance of my next visit.
Today, 24 hours later, I have had no pain from the extraction (though I have kept dosed up on painkillers as advised).
I can’t recommend Joanne at Clowne Dental Practice enough - yes, I am still scared of dentists - but she has shown more care & compassion than I ever imagined a dentist could.
If like me, the thought terrifies you, give her a try, and explain your fears right from the first phone call.
