Dr Joanne Lamb

Jo first graduated in medicine in 2006 and worked as a doctor in surgery and A&E for many years, with the aim of becoming a maxillofacial surgeon. Dentistry was a requirement for her career path, so she qualified as a dentist in 2012 before working in plastic and facial surgery for a year. However, Jo enjoyed dentistry so much that she decided to become a dentist full-time.

During her time at Sheffield Dental School, she was awarded the James Holmes Gardiner Memorial Prize in Orthodontics and the James E Swindells Prize in General Dental Practice.

She completed the examinations to become a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (MFDS) and also trained in dental implants at Sheffield University.

From 2013, Jo worked as an NHS and private general dentist for a few years in Chesterfield, then moved onto private practice in Bolsover and Buxton, becoming a certified Invisalign provider to straighten teeth discreetly. She enjoys all elements of general and cosmetic dentistry, utilising computer-aided design in dentistry as well as helping anxious patients or those with sensory needs to accept treatment.

Jo lives in the Peak District and enjoys hiking, cycling, sailing, paddleboarding and running with her husband and two children. She has two dogs, a cat and alpacas and chickens. When she’s not doing the school run, she has been known to turn up at work on her Honda CBR600 motorbike!
